I haven't seen them picking in it, but they do wallow it all around and then manage to lay eggs storied directly into the wood and occasionally break them :th

Sounds like something Ursula would do. See those crates stacked vertically? Yeah, when she went back into lay after co-mothering, she laid her first 1-3 eggs ON TOP of them:th

Did the big brown egg plastered the other chicks to the side of the incubator?? :lau :jumpy:jumpy
I took a video to send to Tink so she could see that chick and tell me what it was. It's sure got a personality. I don't think we still know, but that's okay lol. I'd have to take another one as that one I was cussing in I think and I sound like crap.

We discussed your beautiful bold bossy little bugger in a other thread, I'm thinking I mislabeled a Fizzy x Barred Rock egg, this would mean you little fire cracker is a pullet and has a 50% chance of laying a blue / green egg. I just don't think Chonkers is hiding genes to produce a blue chick with any of the hens I have.

I told Sue, my farmer neighbor what you said. She has Brahmas so going to get a few more to add to these two and wanted to know what kind she should get. I said something that lays eggs lol. She's coming for those two on Sunday. I'm going to miss that one! I'll get one big group photo of them all before then.

If she sends update photos, I would love to see how they grow up!

Such cuties. Is that black one on the left one of the silkies? It's got a straight comb. I don't have any straight-combed chickens around here unless a hen ran across the road lol.
Yes it is a silkie. I noticed that but didn't think anything about it. Maybe some recessive genes showing up?
