Debbie, so glad you’re feeling a bit better! I can’t say for sure but I would guess that the two which hatched out of the paint eggs will be black when they feather out. To me, they look like silver based black. I could be wrong though! And I believe the little one with the yellow head is a mottle!! If the breeder said that it’s possible to get mottle out of her paint pen, I’d guess that’s where it came from!

How fun!! Makes me think that perhaps all of my chicks will be mottle carriers and perhaps not express it, because none of mine have that much yellow/white on them!

I would think that is caused by the mottling genes, but... I've never looked into mottled before so take that with a big ole pile of salt!

You're probably right. But then, there comes the breeding questions that I have no clue about. When I catch up with work I'll start researching.

I sat down earlier to try do some work and had to move Stella's paw off my mouse. She's used to be being here and I've been in bed so much I guess she missed me.

She has a bed right beside my desktop to keep her off my desk.

Tink, that large sociable gray one's egg, I got the other side out and it is CH!

There's 1 pipped, 2 zipped still coming.

I was so into these hatching, I forgot I have others coming due on the 16th. So, 5 buff/cuckoo are moved over to the hatching side of the Brinsea. Just a small batch this time lol. The incubators are slimming down finally, but still have lots of them still cooking.

Not 100% but so much better. Hubby bought me some Mucinex DM tonight the pharmacist recommended and that's helping! Thanks for asking!!

Those are so darned cute!!!

Here are the two that came from the breeder's paint pen, so should have been paint but she said could be mottled or gray as well. If they were paint, they'd be white with spots, all black, or all white, so I think we can say they aren't paints.

And here's Tinks eggs that hatched. What different personalities these different breeds have. That huge gray one is a busybody. I stick my hand in and he's right there. I pick up a chick and he runs over to my hand. I put one back, here he comes again. I'm trying to show them the water dish, and I have to hold him in a different hand to keep him away. He doesn't cry. I don't know what it is but my neighbor is going to get that one and I'm anxious to see it's personality as an adult!

Tink, what's up with the yellow head/black chick? When it hatched, it never sat down. It stood for a couple of hours in the incubator before I got it out thinking it was in a stupor or something. He's fine though.

5 feathered pink toes, pink beak, having a bad hair day, and tri-color for now -- black, white, yellow. It could be from her paint pen but I don't know enough about hers to know what's what here lol. Your's neither for that matter! I should have done a hatchalong for these and call it Mystery Hatch, name that breed!
