I'm getting slow at posting!

The last hatch we did of my own eggs was on 4/4, and there were 17. Four sold the next morning, which I only did that fast because she lives in town a few miles away and is experienced.

The remaining 13 are sold too, being picked up Saturday by a lady and her sister who are repeat customers.

I have no others in the incubator, but due to a new project @2ndTink and I are doing, I'll announce when the time comes. I'll be setting eggs in a few days, and those will be my last ones for this year. I'll probably start back up in January. We have a new coop coming for all the beautiful varieties I have around here now.

I still have all 7 of the group of 7 mottled/paint bunch I was growing out. They are now 4 months old, and I've sold a pair, cockerel/pullet to a different previous customer who has one sole silkie pullet due to the other one being killed. She's coming tomorrow for these so she'll have a trio. She has a lot of other chickens too.

I'm keeping the more mottled ones and the paint NN pullet.

Here's the two she's buying tomorrow.

This dufus has to go, but I've yet to post him or tell anyone yet as he's hilarious. He's a NN cream cuckoo that stands in front of me wherever I go. I sort of like him but do need to get rid of him before he kills me. Also because I don't want to breed showgirls, and know I'll already get a few from the paint NN pullet.

No! Don't let him go! 😪

I have a lot of customers and only a very few like NNs so I'll keep the paint NN pullet, but a rooster would overdo it on the number of them. I just don't think I could sell a bunch of NNs, maybe just a couple here and there. I'll see, I may end up just not finding a home for him as I sure am not trying to. 😉 He's kinda cool the way he is around us.

Same, at 16 weeks you get a good idea. They can keep filing in, wings may molt out better or worse that fall, but it depends on what your goal is too.
I'm focusing on type right now. "Build the house first type thing, worry about painting and what not later"

So basically I'm wondering if I can look at basic type at this age and make heard decisions regarding who make the cut to breeder and who gets moved on as pets

Everything we were selling is sold now except "Oscar" the NN cuckoo rooster. I haven't posted him as I'm still trying to think about future breeding, etc.

Here's the youngest we have that we're keeping to grow out. They've been getting outside in this heat the past few days. We haul them back in every night. In a couple of weeks we'll have a grow-out pen open for them to stay out overnight.

We have several groups of chicks/chickens that hubby gets confused who I'm talking about, so they get names. This one is the Sesame Street group. (11 shipped eggs hatched 6/27.)

@2ndTink and I had sworn off hatching from a short time ago until early next spring, when we, along with @casportpony, were chosen to test the Brinsea EX Connect. So, there went that idea, but for such a great reason! We're so excited. If you care to see what we're up to, we'll be posting updates here: Brinsea Connect—Testers Journey.

Yes! Come check out the new Brinsea Connect Incubator testing as we break all of our "No more hatching until 2025" rules!

I'm not sure about Debbie, but I can't leave any empty spaces in the incubator, so I'll be scrounging 56 eggs from my girls and local breeders in this heat to set in about 2 weeks 😄
