December Hatch-A-Long 2014

so I just candelled 6 random eggs out of my first incubator which is on day 7. I had 1 obvious blood ring and 1 with ok veining but didn't look like day 7 veining. the rest looked like early quitters or clears :( the temp in this one has been great so I don't understand

I set 18 silkie eggs and 9 bantam/standard mix today. I'm very very excited about the mix! I have no idea what they are other than they range in size from extra small to extra large.

The little kids will get to stay with me and the big kids get to go live at my grandparents house

Are they shipped eggs? Sorry if you already posted where they came from. I'm playing catch up :)

Hi everyone! I'm doing dry incubating and it has been much better hatch results. From my experience you need to know the humidity in the room that the bator is in. My bators stay around 20/30 on the still air and 30/40 on the forced air. When I put my eggs on lock down I aim for 55. My room humidity though stays in the 70's. I also know that the hygrometers can vary 5*. My first hatch I had the humidity too high and lost several and had sticky chicks at hatch for the first couple hatches, now with dry incubation it seems much better. I had an egg that was do to hatch by itself a few days ago and left the humidity alone at 50 and it hatch better than any chick yet. This is just something that works for me so far. I know weighing the eggs is the best but havn't made it that far yet! Good luck to all!! Hope to have my candle update in a day or two :)

Well the hatchabatch app says day 6 but how I was originally told it would be day 5...lol Its hard for me to change the way I first did my counting but the chicks will come when they are ready!! I'm starting to go more by candleing for lock down. My first few hatches I had my temp a little high so my chicks were all hatching by the day I thought was 19. The last few I have lowered my temp. a degree or 2 and they have been hatching right on day 21. I just found out about hatchabatch and see it says my hatch date is a day sooner than I thought! My hatch date says December 7th so we will see!! I just looked at most of the eggs and it seems maybe only half of the brahmas have veins and a good amount of the mixes have veins! I will get more exact Monday with the numbers...this is my first time with this amount so I'm a little crazy...lol I actually won't mind with having some clears!! Good luck with your!

I haven't heard about that ap. Is it a cell ap? We will be close in hatch dates then...mine is the tuesday following you. Sounds like you will have your hands full! I am in an equally crazy position...I had anticipated having about 16 by now....I had 17 hatching eggs and 6 mail ordered chicks...I stand at 3. So, I ordered an auction here and now have 21 in bator...then found another cool aution and have 9 on order....If they all hatch I am in a pickle...I will have a million house chickens for the winter! HA! They will surely call me the crazy chicken lady! I can't wait!!!!
