December Hatch-A-Long 2014

Humidity at 65, 75 even 85 will work. I like the 70's but I have hatched in the 90's--I believe it was raining in the incubator--LOL. The chicks were soaking wet, 24 hrs after most had hatched. Hope you have a incubator full!!! Good Luck!

Thank you!
Well, we are up to one Easter egger, one lav orp and an Easter Egger who is just about done zipping. Not quite the results we were hoping for but a great learning experience for certain. We are going to keep them in the incubator today and, if there aren't any more pips, will take the chicks out tonight. If we hear or see signs of life from the eggs, we'll wait some more.
We had great movement going in to lockdown, temp and humidity remained good through lockdown. We will wait and see what egg- topsies bring. Still LOTS to learn!
Just saw your new post! Thats a lot of eggs! We wish you all the best and thanks again for your help!

OK, I Need some help------Wish Me Luck------I just set 176 more eggs, which gives me 390 eggs incubating---oh just took between 60 and 70 ckicks out the hatcher too(did not do a total count yet).
that's a lot of eggs and a lot of chicks. That's so awesome.

We are at the beginning of day 23 and I had almost given up hope. There hasn't been any chirps or pips since the one that hatched this morning. Was wondering if I should just pull the now fluffy chicks and call it. Decided to quickly candle a couple and, lo and behold, there was movement in both that I looked at. I haven't let the humidity drop so am hoping that I didn't wreck their chances with this quick check...will maintain course and we'll see what happens! Any advice on how to maximize their chances? The eggs have all been rolled around so likely don't have the low side of the air cell up any more...should I risk opening the incubator to reposition or just let them do their thing?

You Know my answer-----I Never Open Mine during lock-down. BUT those are yours---Mine gets knocked around---I don't worry about it, BUT Again, I have never been to day 23, so I do not know the proper answer----Wishing you the best!!

I'm sure you have made a choice by now on what to do about it but I would say leave them be. If they are strong enough to get out then they will do it. I hope they hatch for you!

Thanks Renee572- I assume you were responding to me? We had one pip this afternoon! We are leaving them be for another day, unless we see more signs. Will hopefully see more action from the pipper tonight! This late hatch thing is tough! Here's hoping that the Brinsea Octagon 40 that I ordered today proves more reliable!
Happy New Year everyone! And thanks for the great info and help in this Hatch-a- long!

Day 18 or 19 depending on set date for my Serama eggs, two internal pips! One of said internal pips is Egg #5, who has a really weird air cell- saddle shaped, I'd think it'd be. I am anticipating an assisted with bated breath, but fingers crossed they manage on their own! Here are the photos of the egg through development.

Day 0, before setting. I didn't notice the aircell deformity during candling

Day 7, I managed to blind myself with the candler so despite not seeing everything I'd like to see, I let it stay. It was not as clearly alive as the others.

Day 14, and wow was I happy I'd let it stay! They were developing nicely

but now their aircell trouble was very obvious

Despite this alarming development, at candling today I saw lots of movement against the membrane, and what appeared to be a little beak poking through!

I will be keeping a very close eye on this little one. Guess it is time to head on to the January hatchalong with this batch! I hope you are all having a wonderful new year's
