my little silkie that I helped hatch is dying. she was fine earlier this evening. I went to check on everyone and found her lying with her legs stuck out and gasping. Ive tried to give her water with nutria drench but she won't drink. I knew something had to be wrong cause she is more than half the size of the others. which is why she has been kept separate
Any advice for first time dry hatch? I'm so anxious about it! I am hatching bantam cochin eggs that were shipped and I remember reading somewhere that dry hatching can improve hatch rates for eggs with detached cells. I also have the in a carton with the air cell up because of the detached cells in 6 out of 14 eggs. I dont have a hydrometer so I have no idea about my humidity but my thermometer reads 99.5.
Any advice is welcome!!
she passed last night. my assisted marans are doing fine. they are still huge too. little fat chicks lolI am so sorry...I know how upsetting that can be.
.I had a little assisted Belgium quail bantam that did the same thing on me on day 9...found her lying on her side at 3 am...she passed about 1 pm the next afternoon. Cried my butt off!
I really hope she makes it for you. How do your assisted hatches go? Do most of them survive?
I had four off the sizzle hatch and were two very different sizes...one of the smaller ones passed (He was assisted).
X2 bump it up enough for the viewing window to stay foggy for a few hours before you give up hope. Has she been adding water and checking readings for you also? What is their humidity?if you can raise your humidity up a lot. it will help the stuck ones. also, if you don't want to assist hatch you could at least place a warm wet paper fowl under the ones that are stuck

the humidity has been super high since they went on lockdown. Like 90-100%. But what about "don't openyour bator while on lock down"?X2 bump it up enough for the viewing window to stay foggy for a few hours before you give up hope.
