They'll be just fine by themselves. I even put older chicks in with newly hatched chicks in my incubator so they have someone to keep them company while they're drying off. But I'm able to open my incubator without the humidity dropping more than a few points. They gently peck the newly hatched chicks once or twice, to figure out what/who they are, then they fall asleep next to the other chick until I go to take them out once the new chick is dried off.
If they're in there by themselves, they tend to get very noisy. But then again, I have my incubator right next to my bed and the brooder not two feet from that.
This golden one was just hatched this morning.

These first seven I left all together and let them peck at each other's pips to help each other hatch until they were all dried off.
