December Hatch-A-Long!

I would give him some time to hatch I have had them take a day to come out after pipping and they do fine. It may not be done absorbing yolk or blood vessels yet but it can breathe. Can you hear it making noise? My power went out and eggs got down to 80 but I just got done candling and they look okay. I am so glad I have been looking forward to these babies. Enjoy your newbies when they finally make it out.

That one I waited. It pipped yesterday morning. It started zipping some time before 8 this morning but got stuck. I waited 6 hours with no progress. It was still stuck to the membrane. I took away the rest of the shell at the air cell and there was no vessel or yolk present. It popped itself out before I could decide to do anything else lol. I got it right back I'm the bator and it's moving or snoozing intermittently.

I had another shrink wrapped chick that after 36 hours didn't progress. I assisted it today at 4:30 right before I got locked out for the night. It seemed strong and healthy but I'll know more when I get back in tomorrow morning.

Here's my eldest :)

How are the chicks? What is shrink wrapped and what causes it? Are they stuck to the membrane or something? My sister-in-law was here and I showed her her first egg candling and we hid under my blanket and I showed her the eye and she got to see the baby swimming around you should have seen the look of awe on her face.

Sorry that I am late to the hatch along party folks. My computer pooped out and I am having to share with hubby. here is a video taken on day 10 of incubation. Hatch day is Dec. 19.

Yeah, two were stuck to the membrane. It had dried out too much. The first one because I opened the bator to rescue a chick that ripped the thermometer down and got stuck in the tape and was close to strangling. The second because I opened the bator to take out two chicks that we pecking it in the egg. I was probably over worried about that one. Don't open the incubator!!

Hey my babies are due the 19th too! I am going out-of-town and the incubator is coming with cuz there is no way I am leaving them behind. Nice video I have darker eggs and it is hard to see inside. Happy hatching!

One of my 2 day old chicks had a pasty butt and a leg problem - it was limping with its one leg out sideways a bit. Could the leg problem have been discomfort from not being able to poo? I cleaned it all up and it poo'd right away. Tomorrow I will put neosporin on it. If the leg is still weird should I treat it for spraddle?

Poor thing I'm worried it won't make it
