Decorating Help.... Two Different Quilts, Which Wall Color?

Quote:
I know what you mean, Cyn, I think the last quilt I made for us (besides my DH's Christmas gift) was 3 or 4 years ago. I am finishing one now that will go in our guest room.

The design as you go quilts are a sign of an artist!

Well, I'm not sure about the artist part, but I like not knowing what the end product will be till the last border is on.

DH brought home some paint swatches from Walmart. Here are some that I am considering-the first two are next to each other on the same swatch:

Next swatch, the second lightest one is

Muted Gold:

Rats, maybe I will go to Walmart after church tomorrow and look at those- this dang computer has made them look practically orange!

Cyn, since there are several ways you can go with those quilts, what color will make both you and Tom feel like it's a beautiful, peaceful and joyful room? I know my DH likes earth tones, but he loves the pale teal/aqua shade in our bedroom- the doors and trim are white, and we feel like we are floating in the air.

I was trying to visualize that teal color in our bedroom. I don't see that in either quilt and I know DH hates blue on walls--he'd say it's blue.

On this page, what shade of teal are you all talking about? I think of a blue-green shade as teal, but on the following page there are greens I don't really consider teal, per se.

My
carpet, which I call more sage than teal, is close to this color:

Beth, I think your monitor needs calibrating. They really aren't orangey at all.

Cynthia, I think this computer needs to be junked!

I will see what I can do-

How do the quilts look with the carpet? Do they blend? And are your golds cool enough to balance with the carpet color?

Just when I think I've made my decision, I'm unsure again. Well, there is a giant hole in the wall that has to be sheetrocked (my bdrm wall is the only way to get to the shower/tub assembly, sadly), so I have a little time. And it may take a bit to get the stupid wallpaper off behind the bed anyway.

Tim, there is just something about you writing "Laura Ashley Chintz teal" that makes me giggle, LOL!

try using "ditz"...at least i think thats what its called if i remember correctly....comes from sherwin williams....used to use it all the time when i hung wallpaper/painted for a living
first tape plastic to the baseboard to catch the wet stuff...it is a liquid spray on...score wallpaper first...let sit a few minutes....use a spackle knife to scrape off...fairly easy...except a little messy
after its all removed you may or may not have to sand before you paint...depends on how the wall was prepped before paper went up
a teal is an idea...but w/ your sage carpet might be too much...i liked your first idea of a golden wall

I've been putting off removing that wallpaper for a year, LOL. It's only up to the chair rail (which is only on one wall) behind the bed, but I just hate removing wallpaper. Guess one day soon, I'll just bite the bullet and trudge through it.

ETA: Found it! Lemon Grass
