Deer fawns for sale?

Many good points-- Stina.

I am curious on your source for deer attacks on people: (I thought dogs were the highest)

I DO think bucks are not an animal most people should try to have......bucks are extremely dangerous (mainly during the rut)....more people are killed/injured by domestic or captive bucks than pretty much any other captive animal per year.

The only aggressive male cervid we've had, was a bottlefed white elk bull. When he reached maturity and came into rut- we had to watch being around him. The rest of the year (nonrut) he was a puppy. THat is why we do not bottlefeed boys, unless there is some problem. Mother raised boys usually are no trouble with aggressiveness towards people.

I can't find anything on it now....but I had originally seen it on an Animal Planet show from either a zookeeper or a wildlife rehabber...can't remember which...may have heard it from both on different occasions. I have heard it a couple times since the first. It may also have been in relation to the number of animals (i.e. there are a LOT more dogs than there are deer in "captivity"...so looking at just the outward numbers doesn't tell you anything...)

I find it criminal what you people have done to the once proud Red Jungle Fowl(gallus gallus). These beautiful wild creatures were wrenched away from their jungle haunts to be your play things and egg slaves. Not only were these imperious yet flighty creatures wrenched from their jungle abode, but insensitive men have continued to capitalize on their mutations producing abominations of nature ad infinitum (insert any breed of chicken's name here). This crime against the animal world will continue to be a black mark against humanity down through the ages.

Additionally....

As a life long big game hunter, I find that there is no one alive more cowardly than someone who would hunt a deer. If you make a list of every species of animal in North America beginning with insects and rodents and then proceeding up through grizzly bears, musk oxen, etc., it is hard to find any species of animal more easy to locate and kill than a deer. Owing to their inquisitive nature and the fact that they exist homogeneously across America at he rate of about 100 per square mile, the pastime of shooting fish in a barrel has often been proven to take more skill. As many a cowardly Deer hunter knows, one of the easiest ways to find their quarry is to take a brief walk in the woods and then look behind them for curious creatures following them. This technique can be alternated with taking a nap in a meadow with your hat on a bush and waiting for the deer to come investigate. Either way it takes a supremely cowardly human to make light of the simple nature of these gentle woodland creatures. I can only laud the man who has the industriousness and wherewithal to farm his venison instead of stealing it dishonestly from the public trust.

I can't watch Animal Planet anymore- there are more wrong "facts" on there than anywhere!

I heard that years ago...it wasn't in the past couple years. Many of the newer shows are very strange....I used to watch all the time...but haven't much in the past couple years b/c as you said...the shows suck now..lol

OMG Do you believe this! Hunters are the ones who pay millions of dollars each year for hunting permits. That money alone supports your state parks,& fish stocking.(That means I purchased a permit to harvest excessive deer herd stock, which #'s are determined by the state DEC to control population. When some one like you owns a large parcel of land,& dont allow a certain amount of deer to be harvested. You should be held liable for every deer hit by a car coming or going to your property. You are a very under educated person when it comes to real life for most of America. I've waisted enough time on you.

Well you make some good points ....but how do you feel about the travesties that have been committed upon the red jungle fowl?

Edited to add: and does that make you for or against the sale of Fawns?
