The men tied a large black bear to a pole, and released the dogs.

The bear attacked the dogs, biting off one of their ears.
Then something went wrong.
THe rope that kept the bear attached to the pole snapped. Everyone ran for their lives.

"Scree, rabbit!" Frank yelled, and Scree shot up. He flew at the bear, and raked his talon at it's eyes. The bear roared, swatting him aside and grabbing the bloody mess were his eyes used to be. Frank ran over to Scree and picked him up. He put his ear to Scree's chest, and heard a heartbeat. "He's alive!" Frank said.
