DH = dear husband
DW = dear wife
DS = dear son
DD = dear daughter

These are pretty common on forums involving parenting, family, love and relationships. They can get a little complicated. For example,

exDH = ex-husband
STBexDH = soon to be ex-husband (in process of divorce)
SDD = step dear daughter

BF/GF = boyfriend/girlfriend
BFF = best friend forever
SO = significant other
LP = life partner

etc. etc. etc.

Sometimes you can infer from the context of a sentence what someone means.

Valium helps a lot.

Excuse me, I have to go call my doctor.

I am sitting with my DH in his hospital room. He has been enjoying morphine all week and had some Valium on Monday. If he's any indication, you'd all be so calm you'd be napping right now!

Okay, fine, but whenever I see DH I always think the nickname for Richard...Head. Especially if my DH has been crabby.
