Delawares from kathyinmo

congrats. this is why I might start showing. There is so little good representation of breeds here at the State Fair and some shows. I'd like to see bigger prize money too.

Good ! We going to put you in the Delaware show biz to represent the east coast.
Rancher - we got a lot of catching up to do. LOL
Although the APA judge NYReds has won something with this line of Dels but don't know what show.Or where ?

The show world is going to have to brace itself for some seriously wild and "pastured" birds of I ever show. My males can be almost cuddly if I handle them a few nights in a row, but the females are screamers if I dare to try to touch them. And I can't imagine getting them as clean as Kim does.

I wish I could connect with NYReds. I'd love to find out how his Delawares are doing and pick his brain about his breeding challenges and successes.

Have any of you seen this before, when going to collect an egg laid in the forage pen the Roo side stepped and crushed the egg almost sure it was deliberate.

NYReds is an APA Judge? You might be able to find them that way--@Fred's Hens might have contact information.

I had a roo who ate eggs and some recent frizzle hens.

I just bought two more wooden eggs to place. I like to place them about too, this way they get an early learning that eggs are hard and not good to eat. Crazy birds.

I just found 9 ee eggs laid behind the door in the coop. The solid door is open 24/7. I have a storm door that is closed all the time. It has a window to let light in and so far predator proof. I will have to check there from now on.

That is happening as I type.

And this is what Gust looks like while trying to eat a fake egg.

Some of you already know, but I thought I'd share. My 13 month old F5 hen made it to Champion Row last weekend, at the NCPA show in Red Bluff, CA. There were Buckeyes, Dominiques, Jersey Giants, New Hampshires, Barred & White Rocks and Wyandottes entered in the American class. A White Rock took Champion American and she placed Reserve American. Judge Eric Kutch was pleased to see the Delawares. I heard that he even commented on them at the banquet. I was surprised to win and so excited! It was surreal to see my bird on Champion Row.

@kathyinmo Look what all your hard work has produced! Thank you for restoring the Delaware!!!

YAY! Congrats! That's so exciting. I can't wait until I get my own place and can show. I really need to start researching these things.
