Denagard & Ivermectin- How To Do This

Post video to youtube and provide us a link.

Angel, I do seem some gunk inside her beak. Have you noticed if it's a rotten smell?
The raised spot to me, looks like a scab. It's possible it's Fowl Pox, but it could be from picking. You mention a lot of stress in your flock and feather picking.
Angel is quite pale. She could have more pox lesions further down in the throat, hard to know. If the crop is not impacted, I would make her a wet mash of feed and give her poultry vitamins for a couple of days. What type of food do you feed (layer?)

There seems or seemed to be quite a bit of stress within the flock? Is room an issue or do you think it's because they came from different places. Stress weakens chickens allowing illnesses to take over.

If you can seek vet care, that is best. Florida also has a state lab that may be able to do testing for you give them a call and see what services they provide. Each state operates a little differently. https://www.freshfromflorida.com/Bu...on-Animal-Disease-Diagnostic-Laboratory-BADDL

Ha. I’ll have to learn how to post a video to YouTube!

Where do you see the gunk? That spot at 9 o’clock? I was hoping it was a food bit. I guess not. Where there other areas you saw stuff? I have to learn what to look for.

No rotten smell but I’m going to go over everyone tomorrow with DH’s help. There’s light sneezing going on so I’ve pretty much decided to give the denagard tomorrow. It won’t hurt and can help. I bought it so I may as well use it.

Thanks for the link to the state vet. I’m going to call them. I did go to the animal clinic. Lots of dogs. But the assistant said they take chickens. $45 for the exam (required) and $48 to send the fecal sample for testing. I wonder where they send it and if I can get that directly. Maybe it’s the state!

I agree Angel is pale. Crystal too. And Buffy a bit too. Tomorrow they all get vitamins. Maybe I can put the vitamins on the same piece of bread as the
Denagard.

I’m feeding flock raiser for the higher protein. And I do have free access to crushed egg shells which they do eat.

The stress has been reduced significantly. I think the main source of stress right now is me catching and administering medicines as well as giving inspections. Otherwise it’s good now. They are in a big new coop and there’s plenty of room. No one is picking on anyone anymore. There’s one leghorn that’s a bit more territorial with the preferred nesting box than I want to see. So I’m watching her and need to research if there’s ways to combat that.

Angel was much more active today. I saw her eat and drink multiple times. I still have her scrambled egg though as it’s impossible to tell how much she actually took in. There’s been real progress with her and I don’t want it to backslide.

It was cooler today and we got rain. I saw very little of the neck stretching thing. Makes me wonder if the symptoms/irritation is temperature related somewhat.

Egg count was good again today with no damaged or broken egg. Yea!

Pics of the leghorn. She didn’t have the lesions last Saturday. By Wednesday it looked like this. I’ve been treating her with tylan as that’s what worked on Crystal and Penny. I took these pics yesterday.

Oh thanks for that clarification. I thought I read it could be administered either way.

DH is home now (still
Sleeping - being on the road is exhausting) and one thing I need him to make for me is a cover for the water pan to keep the Brahma out of it. It’ll keep the water cleaner and I won’t have to throw out and remake the treated water so much.

Put the denagard into the water (sole source) yesterday evening. Sweetened it with karo syrup and apple juice (what I had in hand). They are drinking it ok.

Everyone got an inspection. I have 3 maybe with pox marks developing. 2 with very small/tiny maybe Plaques. One with the big lesion. A few are paler in color than I’d like. Everyone got vitamins. That said everyone is out and about, eating and drinking and those that should be laying are, except for Sicilia. I did see her eyeing up the nesting boxes so hopefully she’s starting to think about it again.

I do think, with the incredible help I got here, that we’ve turned the corner. I expect issues to come up still but hopefully we are over some major bumps in the road.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

I'm hoping you see improvements soon!
