Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

My main worry about putting something on their heads is that he's broken the skin on a few of them-- the hens lowest on the totem pole. What happens is that when he mates them, the boss hens come over and raise a fuss (how DARE those hens breed with HER rooster!), causing the lower hens to try and pull free prematurely. Sadly, this is Derp, Chickadee and Coho! I doctor them up to keep the wound clean, but hate the thought of getting something like mustard on there! Owch!

He pulled a few of Derp's pinfeathers out the other day, I was so mad in general! I can't be mad at him, it's not like he did it on purpose-- Derp tried to run away when Lorp came over to shoo Derp out from under LORP's rooster. I scolded Lorp (like she cared!) and then I brought Derp inside and fed her scrambled eggs. I'm so glad that she's happy go lucky, because she acts like nothing ever happened! You can't upset Derp, she's always happy to see you.

Gee - too bad Lorp and Guillicambe can't be in couples coop - where she have him to herself. Poor girls - too bad Derp couldn't do her hopping trick and leap frog him back and forth.

i like the fact that derp only sees the good:)

im rehoming my rooster heleaves on sunday to go to my friends who has a free range farm with 26 hens so he will be so happy:)

at the moment he has 2 girls and his mum and aunty ! he loves his girls but hates his mumand has took to attacking her quite nastly i think he just wantsto be top of the group but mummy wont let him !!!!!

i am sad tosee him leave, so far ive been very lucky as his brothers went to a good home free ranging and thre only down the road from where i work and can see htem growing up !

i should not have roosters i live in a normal street , the neighbours love him so i wish he could stay but poor wilima is beeten up everyday and is too scared to even leave the coop if she sees him , she was my first hen and so sheis much loved and my mum is so scared of mr Wooster that he has to go just to create balance in the house again !

i do hope you find a good home or a way of keeping your girls happy

A- ha so the problematic one is Lorp, not Gilli ( I can't blame her too much, he is a very handsome roo ) lol ... Poor Derp, I'm glad you take such a good care of her, and that she is so sweet for not holding any bitterness in her special chickenheart
