Desert Chickens

Here are some pictures of my flock. I don't have pictures of everybody here, as some of them are quite notorious at evading my attempts to photograph them. I will keep trying to get some good pictures of the rest of the flock and add them once I do.

Sass, my frizzle hen. She's a big sweetheart, with a tendency to get under people's feet. I always have to warn people to watch out for her.

Frass, my sizzle roo. He's a shy boy.

Elvis, my Old Englsih bantam roo. He acts tough, but he loves attention.

Buffy, my only bantam silkie girl. She's super sweet and enjoys following me around.

Henny, an old gal a friend of mine gave me. I was told she was a cuckoo maran, but I had some marans before and thought they were all clean legged and this girl has a lot of feathers on her feet so I'm not sure what breed she is.

Rain, my silkie hen. This is a more recent picture of her in the middle of her moult.

Modena, my silkie roo. He's not doing so well right now, but I hope he pulls through. He's my sweetest rooster.

This picture was taken back in May. Modena and Rain(wearing her saddle) were exploring the front yard after we had fencing put up.

We've got a Silkie/Barred Rock mix with feathered feet, so it's possible Henny's a Marans with some Silkie mixed in if they're selling 'em around there.

Hope Modena pulls through. It's tough.

It is possible Henny could be a mix, although this friend lives 80 miles away from me so I'm not sure what all types of chickens are being sold there. I know around here it's mainly silkies and leghorns, and meat birds.

I also managed to get some more pictures today of some of my other chickens.

Po, my only Polish hen. My neighbor gave her to me.
