Quick funny story about dog breeding. A friend of my dad's had this registered white male toy poodle. Cute thing but dumber than a box of rocks. A neighbor a few houses away ALSO had a toy poodle...a little apricot girl. When the girl came in to heat, they would "accidentally" forget to close the patio door and the dog would get out. Otherwise this dog was watched like a hawk.
Of course, the white male poodle would do whatever it took (climb a fence, tunnel under a fence, chew through a wood gate, etc....) to get to that apricot poodle. Sure enough, the apricot would have a litter of puppies by the white male, and the owners would sell the puppies for $300 each even though they did NOT have papers (this was back in the late 70's!!).
Since they did not contract my friend's ad for stud fees, even though it was obvious his dog was the dad, he never got pick of the litter or a stud fee. I think they did this 3 times before they ended up moving.
