"Designer" dogs or just plain old mutts?????

I was just on Petfinder and they have a Wheaton Terrier/Poodle mix and are calling it a "WHOODLE"!!

What's the dog the Obama's got? Anyone know? Isn't it some sort of water dog?

Quick funny story about dog breeding. A friend of my dad's had this registered white male toy poodle. Cute thing but dumber than a box of rocks. A neighbor a few houses away ALSO had a toy poodle...a little apricot girl. When the girl came in to heat, they would "accidentally" forget to close the patio door and the dog would get out. Otherwise this dog was watched like a hawk.

Of course, the white male poodle would do whatever it took (climb a fence, tunnel under a fence, chew through a wood gate, etc....) to get to that apricot poodle. Sure enough, the apricot would have a litter of puppies by the white male, and the owners would sell the puppies for $300 each even though they did NOT have papers (this was back in the late 70's!!).

Since they did not contract my friend's ad for stud fees, even though it was obvious his dog was the dad, he never got pick of the litter or a stud fee. I think they did this 3 times before they ended up moving.

this is my dream post!!! to know that i am not the only one in the world that thinks desiger mutts are a waste of time. dog breeds have been developed for centuries to serve a certain purpose and in 10 years people will have polluted the lines so much there will be no purebred dog left in the world!! ok exagerating a little but it is getting a little ridiculous

Dream Post? My labradoodle was designed to be an even tempered, affectionate and intelligent family dog. We don't think of her as "Designer". We just love her for the love she has brought to us. Like all good dogs...mutts or pedigree.......unconditional love is all one should expect. Anything else is a bonus.
