Desperately need niacin and other advice

Healing isn't always fast. Like we'd like it to be. How is he doing other wise is he eating good acting like he is happy with life? All these things we have to take into consideration with them. Your giving him every chance hopefully you'll soon see good progress. :hugs Can you get a good pic of his skin where it's discolored?

Here's a few pictures. If you look closely at the one with his entire body, you can see the purple/red spot. Do you see how his tail feathers look red? Why is that? I've been giving him daily baths so I'm not sure if they're just dirty or discolored. In the picture with his bill you can see a small purple dot. Is this a bruise?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm just worried sick! He's so small too. I'll try to get some better pictures of his side.

This picture has the red/purple spot.

Do you keep him with other ducks? maybe he is being picked on and that could be the cause of bruising if that is what we're seeing. He could have hit his bill on something and caused the place on his bill does it look and feel normal other wise?

When did this start with his leg from tiny duckling or just in the last few weeks?

As for his feathers on his tail I see more yellow which maybe normal with Pekins is he completely feathered in? Does he preen after bathing? preening is what keeps their feathers in top shape. The blusih areas though are concerning I am not sure what that is unless some kind of bruises but from what? I am going to see if @casportpony will have a look she has alot of experience maybe she has seen something like this before.

Are you doing the Epsom salt compress on his leg? When you give him a bath are you using just plain water not adding anything to it? @AmberCamilia

I separated him for about a week but then put him back with the female duck, Daisy. He developed the "bruising" while he was by himself. Daisy doesn't seem to bother him so I don't think that's it. His bill looks fine, except for the small spot. I'm thinking it's just a little bruise.

He had a few problems when he was younger but nothing too serious. However, he never really acted as "peppy" as my other duck. I assumed it was just a personality thing, but I'm not sure now.

I don't believe he's fully feathered yet, but close. He doesn't preen much; he doesn't seem to have the strength. My mom mentioned that the "bruising" may be from where he sits a lot. After I get him out of the bath I dry him off and place him back in the "duck area." He, now, uses his good leg and his wings to crawl around, and he's even started standing a little bit, but he sits most of the time. Is it possible for his side to be chapped, or for him to have developed something similar to bed sores? Would that affect the quill parts of his wings?

I tried the Epsom salt compress, but he didn't like it and moved around too much (I was afraid he would hurt himself even more), so I've not tried anymore. I'm not adding anything else to his water. I did notice, however, that he was a little damp the morning after his bath-time. Could the dampness be affecting his skin and wings? I always make sure to dry him very well but I notice that he sometimes spills his water and sits in it. It's possible he's doing this while I'm asleep.

@AmberCamilia Hows your lil one doing haven't seen an update in a few days.
Sorry for not posting, I've been a bit busy!

Jasper is still trying to regain his strength, but I'm beginning to grow very concerned. The discoloration of his feathers is still present and it seems as though it could be getting worse. He doesn't swim as much as he had been (kind of like a rise and fall situation with improvement). He mainly just sits now. He's eating and drinking, which is a positive. I'm still giving him niacin and liquid calcium, but he doesn't seem too peppy. In fact, he looks like you would imagine a very ill duck to look. He's squinting his eyes a lot too. Hopefully he's just tired from being sick.

If you can afford the vet I'd def take him back in.

Hello everyone. Unfortunately, Jasper passed away this morning. I was hoping he would pull out of it and get better completely, but that isn't the case. I want to thank you all, especially Miss Lydia, for helping me with all of my questions and concerns, and for being here to support Jasper and me. It wasn't for nothing, though. You helped me make his last little while comfortable. Thank you.
