destruction and disposal orders HELP

I could see where people might have criticisms, but your story was something that could have happened to any of us, and I think it opened a lot of eyes that, like Blooie said, thought it couldn't happen to them. I would have never seen this thread, but someone linked it up on another thread I'm on, and I'm glad they did. It really was a fascinating story, and you took us with you every step of the way. Plus, it was cool to meet someone on BYC then see him on TV a few days later

i almost choked on my lemonade (mike's :D ) when i read that .... on long island, i raised koi for over 20 yrs (a backyard business since 1998 and similarly i did not bring in ANY fish since may of '99 -- bred my own,blahblahblah))... while SERIOUS koi diseases only scratch the surface when compared to poultry, i've earned the reputation as THE koi-nazi ... i really haven't updated the website longislandkoi.com , and i've toned it down a LOT over the years, but you'll get the idea lol -- i wouldn't let people walk in the yard with a water sample (seriously, a drop of water from a contaminated pond could've put me out of business) -- i would teach them HOW to test... if anybody needed help, i would do what i could --- within reason

golfish are easier than koi, that can of whoop-@$s can be opened when you mix the two (your goldies will be fine tho

Rock River Poultry and Exotics, in Iowa shipped live birds and hatching eggs to over 75% of the states.

I got this from another forum and im sure its the source of the eggs. they sold online and through ebay.

SORRY im wrong here.... John bought his eggs from someone in SD, not IOWA....
(
I live in SD and have heard nothing about a private non-commercial flock being culled. The only ones on the news here are large scale operations. No mention of backyard flocks, so I'm confused as to where the eggs came from? Closest hatchery is in IA.
that WAS them (i don't want someone else being wrongfully pin-pointed), but the label clearly read hudson, sd...

I've never tried koi, but I have a large saltwater fish tank full of fish and coral, and there have been several occasions that I've had to ask myself "Why?"

because they're friggin' beautiful and they make you happy! ( i mean that refering to your salt walt-water set-up

)....i have an empty 72 aquarium that's gonna be sitting empty for a while....back to the yard for me , but i'd love to see pics of the tank

... and if you ever decide to get into koi, talk to me ----- saltwater conversion(ammo-nitrite-nitrate) relies on anaerobic conversion, koi should have AEROBIC --- know quite a few people who mastered SW and were extremely frazzled by their koi....

okay -- now it's back to the yard...
