I could see where people might have criticisms, but your story was something that could have happened to any of us, and I think it opened a lot of eyes that, like Blooie said, thought it couldn't happen to them. I would have never seen this thread, but someone linked it up on another thread I'm on, and I'm glad they did. It really was a fascinating story, and you took us with you every step of the way. Plus, it was cool to meet someone on BYC then see him on TV a few days later![]()

) when i read that .... on long island, i raised koi for over 20 yrs (a backyard business since 1998 and similarly i did not bring in ANY fish since may of '99 -- bred my own,blahblahblah))... while SERIOUS koi diseases only scratch the surface when compared to poultry, i've earned the reputation as THE koi-nazi ... i really haven't updated the website longislandkoi.com , and i've toned it down a LOT over the years, but you'll get the idea lol -- i wouldn't let people walk in the yard with a water sample (seriously, a drop of water from a contaminated pond could've put me out of business) -- i would teach them HOW to test... if anybody needed help, i would do what i could --- within reason
