I had told a story here on BYC about God showing me where Iizzys (my favorite Chick! She was a Silver Duckwing OEGB) nest was, TRUE STORY-I knew she was laying but it wasn't in the nest or coop or any of the known spots they hung out. One day as I searched I asked God to help me, (some may think that is a waste of good resource or just crazy BUT I believe God cares about even the little things in our life) as I went on about my farm chores that day and had done give up on finding the nest, for that day at least, I was taken on a different route than I usually take and sure enough something whitish caught my eye and there it was a nest of eight little eggs under our push mower! Amazing right?
Tragically, I lost Iizzy soon after to an aerial predator. I was devastated! I of coursed had already washed and refrigerated her eggs...
I was very upset and what do girls do when they are upset..they go to their fathers and I went to mine. There were a few days to a week between finding her nest and losing her, so I knew she had to have another nest somewhere because she had not gone back to the lawn mower. So, I went back to God, prayed again for assistance in finding her last eggs..but nothing..found NOTHING! So devasted! The next morning, I went let the chicks out and gathered the eggs, thinking about Lizzy I gave the coop one more look over, sadly there was no eggs. I went on about my day, soon other chores take precedence and other farm issues arise Lizzys nest was far off my mind. In the late afternoon, as I tended to pigs I hear one of my hens singing her egg song,I had already gathered eggs but I decide to grab the egg on my way back in the house. As I reached for the egg in the nest I see IT
right there smack dab in the middle of the coop was one single little Lizzy egg!! NO JOKE! NO BS! Now remember I had already torn that coop apart.
Well you can image my excitement, I took that egg so so carefully into the house. I kept it in a warm spot as I researched how to tell if an egg was fertile. I had never seen Mr. Rooster even attempt to mate with either OEGB but that meant nothing at the moment. I looked, looked and looked I had others look there was no signs of life
and from what I read too much time had gone by for it to be viable but what an amazing gift from God-right! I kept that egg for sometime, I eventually put it in the fridge.
Well, yesterday I picked up the egg and it looked cracked so sadly I decided it was time to use it or dispose of it. I cracked it open and
not only had that egg been fertile but IT HAD ALREADY STARTED TO FORM INTO A CHICK
.
DEVASTATION!
Lesson for today kiddies:
Never doubt your importance to your Heavenly Father! And, if you ask God for something-don't question the possibilities because He is beyond our knowledge, all things are possible with God! Believe in His love!
