Maybe out of jealousy... *lol* I for one loooove them! They are precious and I think that last pic turned out great! So do they calm down when you place them in you hand like that?

They are so cute!!! My children want them but I'm not sure about raising them. I've heard they are alot harder to raise than chickens and unless I could raise them right I will wait on doing so.

My husband on the other hand says he wants to dig a pond and would love to get some to swim in it.....lol. I'm the one wanting to take things slow and he wants everything...go figure.

Beautiful babies you got there and I hope you have many goodtimes with them.

They are not hard to raise. They are hard to hatch! LOL

They will bond with you like puppies but they won't always bond with the entire family. They pick someone to imprint on and they are your buddy for life. After a month or two of brooding they can be put out ont he ground. Once they get a more mature size they can be turned loose to free range. geese graze. As long as they have a pasture or lawn to eat they don't need much supplemental grain. If you plan to eat them then you need to finish them with good grain products.

I agree with some of the other posts I've read about raising geese that talk about WATER. They drink more water than I could ever have imagined!!! They are also VERY messy during the brooding stage. Until they can free range, they make muddy poopy mess every where they go, but it's worth it.

I don't think mine have imprinted on me, despite the fact that I feed them, water them, talk to them, encourage them, and BEG them to love me. LOL. They are playing hard to get, but they DO just sit nicely (for a few moments) when I placed them on my hand.

I was concerned about one of them having problems walking, but they seem to be doing better and it's only been a couple of days. They grow so fast. I've gotten the eggs, day olds, some that were a couple of weeks old, some a few months old and then adults. All of them have been easy going, easy to please geese.

If you want geese, I sure can recommend them!!! I love the Sebastopols also. They look up at you with this amazing face and talk to you. Heck, get a few of both!!

My little sebbie is the sweetest goose I have ever had to date. He was the lone survivor of 3 eggs. His mate died right after hatch. He is always the first to come to me and raise his head up and 'talk'. He looks almost like he is smiling when he sees me.

Miss Prissy, that is EXACTLY what I mean. I got three day old sebbies earlier in the year and when I opened the box, they all looked up at me just like that.
Then, I went to visit a friend who has a sold male Sebbie whose mate died and he comes up and does the same thing. Gosh, I love those precious little souls. Just wait, I'll make sure to get another one for you. As a matter of fact, the next time I come to VA, I'll find a way to bring one to you!! I'm determined!!!
Do you know that you have a male for sure?
