what breed and how many?

Golden Laced Brahma's. A dozen. He said 8 were from his pullets and 4 were from his older hens. You can tell by the size of eggs. 8 of them half the size of the other 4. Which is a concern for me. Being a breeder we all know the chicks from pullets are not as good as chicks from mature hens. If I would have know this in advance I would not have gotten them. I think this person doesn't really have a breeding program obviously to me. Just lets the roos run around and mate with anybody. Otherwise this would not be the case.

I just received tracking information. Crazypetlady just shipped out the chicks that I won for the New Year's Day hatch-a-long. They should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully all alive and well.

I hate the anxious wait for chicks in the mail. I need the nail-biting emoticon again.

I hear yea. Hopefully my 25 Heritage Dellies are in. I have to run to TSC right now so I will stop by there on the way back!!

Just like that, he is gone. I last seen movement 6:20 am, went to do the chickens and came back and saw a little yellow red mark on the pure white at the bottom undersideish of the egg, I couldn't get him to move so I know he tried to pip and drowned. When I picked it up it was stiff and I pushed on the area and it was indeed his beak. I tried to get his beak out but I knew he was already gone. I wont tell the kid unless he asks. I had a feeling he wouldn't be able to turn because without the shell it was a tad flat . : (

He was nice and big and nice white under his chin too : ( What I don't get is there wasn't too much fluid, yolk wasn't all absorbed he just couldn't get those lungs to air. I am not sure I could have done anything for him but see what he does. It was exciting waiting and wishing for the little thing for sure. : ( I was up three times just to check on him last night. I know I am nuts. I felt bad too, because I have 3 turkey hatching and those buttons in there and they are being ignored. When they should be the exciting chicks! At least they are now! they have all my attention.

RIP Humpty, look how white that outer membrane remained though. I can say, I have no doubt if this little guy could have turned he would have lived.

Okay, I don't think it's gonna be able to make it out on its own. I opened an area around the face, mostly just shell. I had an itty bit of blood, so it's back in the bator. Really long story, but I drilled a tiny hole in the air cell and baby is really bagged up on that end. I saw plenty of veins from that side, so, gonna wait a while.

This is my last hatch for the
season!!!!!!!

I went to candle. I have internal pips and one external and those little boogers are active in the shell. I only looked at 4. Woohoo. The hatch has began. We will have goslings.
Awesome!
I cant believe she lets you pick her up! Heck this next cochin sitting on the marans is a spitfire I aint touching that broody beeauch!

Ok, I set some more eggs. 3 EE, 15 LF cochin, 6 bantam cochin, and 2 sebastopol goose eggs. The other goose egg was set a week ago and it isn't developing. I think it froze before I collected it.

don't forget to eggtopys and check fertility before you trash it kk?
I am so excited! I soooo want you to hatch more!! They should bring you some profit to help with feed and some school bills! So proud of you Coch!

4 swedish flower hens and that blue egg hatched. One basque and several SFH pipping. day 20
They don't exist
When I candled last week, I separated the two questionable ones. Tonight, day fourteen, I can't see more than the air cells in even the blue eggs. The two questionable ones had blood rings.
I raised the humidity, and rotated where the eggs are. I still have different sized air cells. Why?
BTW, the temperature has held steady at 102.
different ages perhaps? freshness is the main factor, also how close to the fan air stream they are, that's why I rotate at every turn

Hey Sally! What have you gotten yourself into?? I may come over just to watch that bator with you! My goslings left yesterday & the brooder room (ie living room) is quiet & empty for the first time since Feb. : (
OMG put some in the bator!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITNG FOR!!!!!

Cochin just put two sebs in her bator, she got a beautiful pair for her birthday!

Stick around, and teach us a few things!
I would love to hatch A goose... note the A goose! LOL
