I used pour on when I only had 6 hens...don't remember the amount of drops but a drop more or less won't hurt, just make sure that the feathers don't get in the way.
When I had upwards of 50 chickens I changed to the water solution 1% sterile solution

Do you toss eggs for a week or so after?

Actually I've never had a recurrence since, so no help there sorry. I never do preventative for mites or worms in chickens as they are pretty easy to eradicate. Especially worms as I have never seen any and would only suspect if hen is sickly and with no obvious reason and even then. I think that there's a lot of hype with no foundation except fear mongering. Of course it does happen but not in general.

I save chemicals for 'have to' situations and it's paid off to date.

I do give my GSD 1/10cc per 10lbs weight of the same ivomec in cheese, for heartworm prevention once a month, from May to November and that's it.

Quote: I've been using it since my own infestation last year. It definitely helped. I didn't resort to it until I had shake-n-baked all of my birds, killing one 4 week old in the process, and cleaned and sprayed all of the coops with Sevin. I too couldn't get rid of the heebie jeebies. That was the first time I really wished I had never gotten chickens, and wanted to burn down the coops. You are not alone!

Quote: I literally stripped right on my back porch after dusting because I was so grossed out with the idea of those disgusting things on me...

Quote: It's spring, and they get more active. My guess is they probably were there in the fall, but lesser numbers, so went unnoticed.
Quote: Ivermectin is primarily a dewormer, so it would take longer to work. If you want a quick fix go with Sevin rather. Get someone to help you and do what I did with the bag. But leave the chicken's head out of the bag. I don't know if Sevin will harm their eyes, so rather play it safe.
Wear a face mask when dusting!!!! I have gotten really sick with all of the dust products and chickens, and don't want anyone else to go through what I did. It's a horrible pneumonia can't breathe feeling that doesn't go away easily. Especially with DE! I use it, but always wear a mask!

ok read all the posts and the egg toss question was answered. I am going to try to keep up but I am sure I will get behind. I need to go check on broody and take her some scrambled eggs. Eggs in the bator seemed fine last night when i candled.

Sumi the poo is nasty and the eggs are gross from her staying on them. I have cleaned out the bedding or added another layer several times. she scoots all the bedding to one end and then puts her and the eggs on the hard floor of the kennel. She better hatch something from the two I left her and accept the ones from the bator. She needs to get her big fluffy butt up.

Nope I feed them back to the hens and dogs hoping that they'd also get some or more immunity from whatever lol.
From what I have read feeding back can build resistance since they are getting such a tiny amount from the eggs. worms in particular will not be killed by a small amount and will build their resistance to the worming meds. Not sure since this is what I have read. I have yet to deworm since I have not really had a problem.
