I wouldnt bother stopping the turner at this point. I must ask are you positive your thermometers are calibrated and sure that you move eggs around at candle time in case of hot and cold spots in the bator? you have a fan model I will assume? what temp are you running at? Did you have insurance on the eggs? Was the box damaged?HI,
Have a question on shipped eggs I just got. 16 eggs were sent but because of poor packing I lost 5 when I opened the box. They were extra's so even though I was a bit upset by it, couldn't complain much (well I could have but really what's the point)
A couple of the eggs I am questioning whether are fertile but can't much against mother nature there. Some of the other eggs are pretty porous and I'm worried. I have yet to hatch out a chick from a porous egg. And some from what it looks like moving air cells. When I got the eggs, I left them in the box for a bit of time, then once I opened the box and found all the broken eggs, I unpacked the viable ones and left them fat side up for about 24 hours. I know I can only hope from this point on, but from the rough shipping and poor packing what chance do I honestly really have of these chicks hatching.
Its day 2 and they are in a hovabator with an auto turn. My humidity is about 35-40% humidity. I raised it up from the 20% on the last hatch since I got a couple malpositioned chicks and a late hatch. If the eggs don't hatch, I will look at it as a learning experience but I hope I get at least 2 eggs to make it. The eggs came from a well known breeder so I know the stock is well cared for. Thank God for that at least.
I am so glad you were with them oz! you sound so much happier with the wifey!! She is a really amazing woman!! Have you finished the projects you wanted to or gotten them all started and heading in the right direction? How much damage had you witnessed?I go home for a week and you guys talk up a storm.
I am sitting in the airport in Bacolod waiting for a flight to manila and then onto LAX.
