Just set 30 White Leghorn eggs Friday. Now just have to wait to see how fertile they are. Cockerels new to this. LOL. Have 4 hens in there with him. So we will see this coming Friday when I candle them.
I bet they have no problems LOL!!! I like the new avy, threw me a bit!

I go home for a week and you guys talk up a storm.

I am sitting in the airport in Bacolod waiting for a flight to manila and then onto LAX.

It was an awesome week with my family.
adding, when ur board have a look at the conversation and info on the vaccine a few pages back, thoughts then please!

I wouldnt bother stopping the turner at this point. I must ask are you positive your thermometers are calibrated and sure that you move eggs around at candle time in case of hot and cold spots in the bator? you have a fan model I will assume? what temp are you running at? Did you have insurance on the eggs? Was the box damaged?

Currently I have 2 thermometers in the bator, one that reads humidity. And yes it does have a fan. My temp is just below 100 as my thermometer doesnt offer the tenth of digit (would like to get one of those) and the humidity is about 40%. I try and keep it between 35-45. I candled the eggs last night and marked the ones that I had moving air cells. There were 3 of those. Of the 11 eggs, I might have 6 viable ones but too soon to tell. A couple looked like they had hairlines cracks (from pics I saw last night) but there is no oozing so I'm going to keep them in and all of them are really porous. Honestly I'm not hoping for much and at one point had thought about not even bothering hatching the eggs. But as I try and learn from my experiences, Ive decided to weather on and see of the ones I marked how many will actually make it to lockdown.

There was insurance on the box but it wasnt marked on the outside in any way for the PO to know there were eggs inside. The box was not damaged in any way, unfortunately they were just packed haphazardly and this too I will learn from. I dont think the PO would reimburse me because in all reality it was the breeders fault that the eggs ended up broken.

Ready to begin hand turning today on the Blue/Wheaten Ameraucanas.

It doesn't seem like I can lean them very far at all within the carton.

is this turned enough?? the X's on the blue eggs are facing up.

the brown eggs (BLRW) will start hand-turning tomorrow. Some of those eggs are even larger, and might turn even less. is this ok?? first time hand turning!!

I would take the screen out for now, you can always add water in dif size little cups, I never just put water in the bottom of my styros, always cups I can take out and add, little ones,

oh yes, I use sponges that I can remove easily, never the water wells! :)

I was asking if the angle of my turning is enough? it seems very slight compared to my auto-turner from last time. and the brown eggs are so large, I'm afraid they won't turn much at all when it's time to start turning them (tomorrow)
