TIMELINE of a silky HATCHING!







MONDAY 5 PM noticed external pip


TUESDAY DAY 20 9AM STILL RESTING,
hole slightly larger but chick is NOT zipping!





2 PM TUES. CHICK IS ALREADY OUT!
missed the last quick zipping!

Silky on the left, two CCL hatched at the same time!



NOTE: THIS CHICK TOOK WELL OVER 24 hours to hatch! and absolutely normal!

Thank you scooter, I dont know what to suggest, I have always had a fan. you only have 24 local eggs you say, you can keep them out of hot spots and rotate often yes? and remember what ozexpat says, never put the egg next to the motor for the turner it produces heat as well.

Thanks Sally, I wasn't even thinking of the fan motor as a heat producer. I need to trial my temps. with turner on. It has been off or the therms fall all over. The first time I hatched local eggs in 1993 (same LG), I had 11/12 hatch and one fully formed malpositioned-dead in shell. I had no hygrometer and one thermometer, no water in wells and hand turned--was in a somewhat humid basement though. Really....I did very little. I need to de-stress BEFORE I set.
