I am tilting my LG incubator instead of turning eggs by hand to cut down on opening it too much. How high do I need to tilt it? I have 2 decks of cards under 1 side then move them to the opposing side. Good?

I am not sure that is at least a 45 degrees angle ? I have read in case studies that anything less than 45 causes more malpositions, HOWEVER turning frequency is most important in these studies.

here is a paste from one in my notes.... sorry I didnt save the link!
The angle through which the eggs are turned is important. Hatch of fertiles was significantly better in eggs turned over an angle of 45˚ either side of the short axis of the egg, as compared to turning of 30˚ and 15˚. Hatched chicks from eggs turned 45˚ weighed more and had less dry matter in the residual yolk. (Cutchin et al, 2007)

Quick update: I candled again last night. Air sacs are looking great! I could see veins this time too. Will candle again in a few days. Fingers crossed it will go well. I'm nervous about these eggs because I have no idea how old they were, nothing. But if they continue and hatch in... 10 days time, I'll be happy

Wouldn't it be great if incubation was 1 week instead of 3? Apart from the fact that we will all have way to many chickens...

Hey, Sumi sent me, I am looking for a hatch buddy to do a logged hatch a long with, where we can keep log of everyting we do, humididty, tempature, turn times etc...I was just wondering if anyone wanted to partner up to do it?
