After all the frustration and heartbreak from my last incubation I guess my Coo Coo Maran decided she'd show me how it's done and hatch her own!! She went Brody yesterday that I noticed!! So excited that she will hopefully have some babies of her own!! :) so excited!

so excited!

Best of luck. It is amazing how they just know how to do stuff for a month before I get brave enough.

I am not sure the chick needed it to start with but it wont hurt at this stage and it only needs to be applied every 8-12 hours. Ointments are oil based. Creams are water soluble. The issue with ointments is they make it tough for a wound to dry out. The good thing is, because they hang around, the medicine works longer. Give the chick time to heal. Get some nylon cable ties and toe cuff yourself to the base of your bed so you cant get up and check the bator

Yay Mama Broody! My fingers are crossed... I have one little broody due to hatch hers out real soon! Hopefully tomorrow (day 21) but I don't want to jinx her. I haven't candled them or messed with them at all. I figured she could do it better then I can. Now... I may check them if no hatch by Sunday!

I wanted to error on the side of caution about the polysporin as I haven't heard of that brand. I didn't know whether or not all ingredients were safe for chicks. That's why I was hoping Oz or someone familiar with it would be able to give sound advice without knowing the active ingredients. Good to know! Thanks!
