I have pictures... I think Hope is a boy. She (or should I say "he") Has saddle feathers! Maybe they are just long tail feathers, but I don't think that is what they are...

She was watching me with a weird face. lol

Saddle feathers.

Saddle feathers.

You can see that they kind of hang below her tail kind of under the tips of her wings.

A great picture.

Sickle feathers!?!?

And her hackle feathers are very long- but not quite pointy...

And the neatest picture of her yet ^^

Also I would like to add that she seems kind of roo- ish sometimes. If I push her back from the ledge of the box or if she pecks my face, she gets right close to my face all of a sudden and just stares. Her neck feathers don't stand up though. Also, if she is startled, she will kind of pace her feet really fast while being really low to the ground and dart her head back and forth with her face straight forward. Am I paranoid, or are these good signs that she is actually a "he"?

Hey guys, well done with the chicks and eggs etc. Sorry I'm neglecting you again. We're very busy house hunting and I've been so distracted this past few days. Good news is we got a GREAT agent helping us find the perfect spot for us and our chickens. She's totally with me on my chicken plans and she's looking for something suitable for us and my plans. We're going to view another property tomorrow in a lovely area with a "couple of acres". So

Hope just loves being with me on the computer and dust bathing in a box beside me. :D

The green egg was not fertile, and I also broke another egg that was not fertile, and I think there is one more not fertile egg in there. So now I have 9 good eggs.

...now tracking down some more eggs.

Sally the bloody umbilical is still attached to my one chick. I am leaving it. Tried to wash but I did not want to pull it. Treating it with vetericyn and keeping an eye on it, It has a piece of shell stuck to it.

Thinking if I treat it like a baby umbilical then maybe it will fall off when ready.
