I see--- so that veiny thing (sorry, best description I could think of right now) that is the yolk, because you are right, mine does NOT look like that!

I think that chick needs to be untangled so we can have a good look at him. Take a clean sponge and some warm water and wipe off that gunk so he can stretch, at least, get it's wings loose and it's leg and it's circulation going. And see if you can get us some pics of the navel area, so we can see what's going on down there?
I agree with sumi, and if it only has one leg you will need to cull itSo here is what I am dealing with. I changed it’s paper towel out right after I took that first pic. I started chipping away more. I KNOW it absorbed some yolk last night because I had chipped the shell away down to the yolk like and this morning it was much lower. I chipped down to that point and slowly moved the shell around. I saw another foot!!! (small victories) and I could not find what suppose to be the navel but I took a pic. I know that makes me sound like an idot, but there is a lot going on down there.
Here it is before I started working on it...
This was during...
That string to the right was what I was going to use to tie it off. I for some reason could not find floss but I found thread and coated it Ointment.
Currently it is back in the bator, still chirping but it is comfy in it's cup.
Look and that last pic, I know the red heat lamp throws things off but everyone is still asleep and I couldn't get DH to help me take a good pic. Is it looking like it might still absorb it, or does it look infected?
I got to run and get kiddo from school, right now! Can you get a close-up of the navel area? I can't tell from the pics. Sorry! I'll be back in a bit...
Oh yes. This is my new hobby. I pick things up quick. I'm going to make a load of sign Cardy type things to display in shops and do some little ads once my first eggs hatch. I am hoping to do some preorders too and maybe incubate for some people too. When it comes to after they hatch I have loads of helpers!!Ooh lala! Someone's starting a hatchery! LOL Here's a great chart on chicken breeds, egg laying, egg shell colours and and and... Enjoy!
