No No, mine does not look like that at all...
What did you think of that one pic?

Here is one more.

The flashlight is throwing everything off....ugh.

Let me get my family out the door for work and school...

I will listen to what you have to say I just need to get them all out of here first.

I think that chick needs to be untangled so we can have a good look at him. Take a clean sponge and some warm water and wipe off that gunk so he can stretch, at least, get it's wings loose and it's leg and it's circulation going. And see if you can get us some pics of the navel area, so we can see what's going on down there?

I need to pick my boy up from school in 30 minutes, so I'll be off in a few, but I'll check in later.

Yes! So eggcited! Just purchased another bator! Got a refund on the bator I have because the thermostats isn't working properly and I get to keep it! So I'm going to use it as a hatcher instead. And the new one is fully auto with digital built in temp control and displays the temp and humidity. Holds 56 eggs as well. I also am bidding on a fully auto hovabator. So hoping ill get that too! So planning on eggs now! I'm going to buy in silkies and leghorns...
Any one got suggestions on some different breeds? That are good layers ish and bantams or giants?

So here is what I am dealing with. I changed it’s paper towel out right after I took that first pic. I started chipping away more. I KNOW it absorbed some yolk last night because I had chipped the shell away down to the yolk like and this morning it was much lower. I chipped down to that point and slowly moved the shell around. I saw another foot!!! (small victories) and I could not find what suppose to be the navel but I took a pic. I know that makes me sound like an idot, but there is a lot going on down there.

Here it is before I started working on it...

This was during...

That string to the right was what I was going to use to tie it off. I for some reason could not find floss but I found thread and coated it Ointment.

Currently it is back in the bator, still chirping but it is comfy in it's cup.

Look and that last pic, I know the red heat lamp throws things off but everyone is still asleep and I couldn't get DH to help me take a good pic. Is it looking like it might still absorb it, or does it look infected?
I agree with sumi, and if it only has one leg you will need to cull it

I got to run and get kiddo from school, right now! Can you get a close-up of the navel area? I can't tell from the pics. Sorry! I'll be back in a bit...

Just got everyone out the door. I am sure the baby will wake up soon. I will clean it up some more and try to get better pics. Thanks friends! And don't worry, just report back when you can. I know everyone has a life that doesn't revolve around my one lil chickadee!

Ooh lala! Someone's starting a hatchery! LOL Here's a great chart on chicken breeds, egg laying, egg shell colours and and and... Enjoy!

Oh yes. This is my new hobby. I pick things up quick. I'm going to make a load of sign Cardy type things to display in shops and do some little ads once my first eggs hatch. I am hoping to do some preorders too and maybe incubate for some people too. When it comes to after they hatch I have loads of helpers!!

Going to take some fun themed pictures so that I can make some nice designer cards too. You all have me the idea!! Lol
Chickens seem to go like crazy here. So I want to do things a little more designer. Like breed different and rare types. and perhaps make little kits to go home with them. Chick treats and food and I could probably get hold of some cheap ish food and water chick dishes to help out new owners. I'm also looking at doing a reserve list for people that want a specific breed that would go towards their chicks! I'm only going to do this small scale. But a lot more than I would keep myself. I only have 7 chickens here and two are Roos. And eventually I am hoping to rent a little land round the corner from me as I live in very much farming area. So just going to upscale a hobby. I've been dying to do for years!! I have done this with reptiles but it was so costly with the amount of tanks and heating and food that was needed. A lot more than what it costs to keep chickens and at least they rewards us with delicious eggs! But I'm also thinking of raising chicks 70 percent organic, or as possible. We consume around 90 percent organic and all free range at home so I think I may do this for the Chooks too!
The one thing I'm on the look for is chicken vaccine I know I have to buy it bulk but its trying to find a supplier is almost impossible. I'm going to have to phone some hatcheries I think to see if I could purchase from them.
