I have an awful feeling about what state those eggs will be in and if they're fertile or even if they're duck eggs. Be sure to post the packing job and the eggs.![]()

Yeah, I guess I knew it was coming. When I was cleaning the yolk off of them, I noticed that her belly felt soft. She was very active yesterday, but she took a turn for the worst this morning.
My main brooder has a mix of 2 week olds, 4 week olds, and 5 week olds. I'm not sure how the 5 week olds would react to him and I need to correct his spraddle legs first. I think I'll just leave him in the spare incubator for a few more days because a friend of mine offered to take him in with her chicks.![]()
Awesome!
LOL AWESOME!!!Here is a giggle for you all! ..... So last night I posted on my Facebook that I am in desperate need of an incubator. I just got up this morning to some very funny replays by my friends who I love to bits!!! Just one person was being stupid tho. He said sit on them! Ha ha very funny. But what is super funny is the two serious replys. "Would the oven work?“ and "could you use an electric blanket?" Lol lol I told them thanks for the suggestions but no. But on the plus side someone may have one I could borrow
And a good morning to you too! Though it's already evening here by me...Good Monday morning everyone! Its FINALLY pretty outside and all chicks are outside getting some fresh air. They are flying all around inside a huge dog kennel wrapped in chicken wire. Thanks to Wally the Bernard/Pyrenees mix.
All this talk of mites and lice makes me itchy. I have some DE. I think I'LL do some dusting in the nest boxes and coop.
Question: how much space is required to say your chicken is free range? I was asked If ours are and I said yes. But then after coming home I thought about it. They are in an enclosed area of apx 1000 feet. And on nice days like today I leave the gate open so they can come and go as they please. I also have 5 who hop the fence everyday. So I guess technically they aren't?
I've done myself a disservice. I happened across two eggs from Henrietta and two from my RIR so I popped them in the Bator. Now I'm in for a staggered hatch. Somebody tell me that I do NOT have to hatch every egg I come across.
"Lucky" the dropped egg is my most active one. I have high hopes for his hatch. How big do these little guys get?
IF my almost 3wk olds are true barred rocks, and they appear to be then it looks like I have at least 8 Pullets. 4 I'm uncertain about and 4are absolutely roo's. Not a bad number.
Can't wait for my silkies to hatch I have one rather ominous saddle cell that scares me, but the others look ok. When the air cell dips to the same degree on both sides how do you know which side to lay it on for hatch?
I must accomplish something today. Have a great Monday all.
you don't lay that one with both dips you keep it upright for hatchGood Monday morning everyone! Its FINALLY pretty outside and all chicks are outside getting some fresh air. They are flying all around inside a huge dog kennel wrapped in chicken wire. Thanks to Wally the Bernard/Pyrenees mix.
