Anoth quick shelter is to buy a big tote tub from Wal-Mart, turn it upside down with lid still on, cut a hole for a doorway and put some hay in there for a nest up front and drill a hole and put up a roosting bar in the back. :) Temporary fix.
yea i guess but i just went out there and there in no way in. every place is flooted , up to thier ankles. i just hope they make it so i can fix it up making them a better situation

Yeah, I'm with there. I actually like snakes, I'll catch them handle them etc, but if you want to see me move show me a spider. I got bit by a poisonous one years ago and had a 3-month nightmare recovering from that. I have absolutely no intention of repeating that experience, so if I see a spider and DH is not within screaming distance... Sorry, spider!

i agree, three times i've been bitten, praise the lord, not poisonous but around here if a spider wants to live, stay out of my house, i won't kill them outside but inside, fair game. yes, i played with snakes growing up too, even caught rattlesnakes, but daddy made me kill them not let them go again, so i do kill poisonous snakes too

We kill snakes like the Boomslang, because they are so dangerous. There is some info on it's poison in the wiki article, I think. And we're miles away from the nearest hospital who would probably not have anti venom on hand, so we don't take chances. Especially not with kids and the dogs around. Other snakes like cobras we'll catch and relocate far away from people in the veld.

i understand, at our office building, which we own, i have several five or six foot black snakes that i dare anyone to hurt, the're good at killing and eating poisonous snakes, so the black snakes are more or less my pets

i haven't had to kill a snake in years tho, i have a bunch of garder snakes here or did, we had guineas and they're suppose to eat them, i did have one garder in my greenhouse last year, pretty good size according to the skin, altho i sometimes heard it moving, never saw it.

The land of OZ is a nightmare for poisonous creatures.

Australia has the most deadly vermin around.

One of the big killers when I was a kid was the Sydney Funnel Web Spider. About the same time I transferred as a nurse to the ICU of a major hospital in Sydney the anti-venom was finally developed. Our next FWS bite got the anti-venom and the reversal of symptoms as amazing.

The ICU doc got into all sorts of trouble when he described it as "taking the fun out of spider bites"
