2 Boys and 4 Girls! Thank God that's over! what a looooong day! I need a refreshment I get way too stressed!
Awww, they're so sweet!

Today I set in the bator:

7 cream legbars
5 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas
6 OEs
6 BCM

I think I am finally perfecting my temp and humidity with this being my 5th attempt at incubating.

In the other bator, I should have some hatch Sat/Sun. I'll be interested to see if I do better with the dry hatch method. Lockdown on these tonight. :)
Good luck with the hatch! You've got a nice combo of breeds there. Hope all goes well.

they are basically 15x16 that's what I took the pic for size and the stickers have dimensions lol and you don't really need a hole lot of boxes either.

They will be a lot of different hens in here. 7 Leghorns, 8 HRIR, around 8-9 HDelawares and the 8 Brahmas. Oh and 2 GLW. That's why I'm making 10 nesting boxes in this new house. Plus from what I have seen over the years with the PReds is they all want the same dang box. You can have 10 but as soon as one goings in the others want the same one. They will just stand there and cry until the one is done. Silly, silly chickens.

Everytime I see these at Wal-Mart I think about what a great nesting box they would make. I just did not like the black as I thought it would be too dark and snakes could hide in there easier.
Speaking of snakes. Look what I found in the nesting box the other day. Had it's mouth around an egg. I grabbed it by the back of the head and squeezed. The egg slide right out.

Ok..So I have a small problem...maybe you all can help me out..I got some eggs shipped recently...the shipper accidently sent the wrong ones...and of course sent the right ones which I received within 3 days...so I had ordered 6 eggs..she'd sent 8 with the "mistake" shipment and 8 more with the correct one...In the meantime, before i found out about the mistake I had ordered 20 more eggs from a gal and got 6 on a swap...I of course HAD to set the mistake eggs..wouldn't want the lil fellers to die simply because of a mistake, right? I also set the correct eggs when I got them..figured I have room for about 42 eggs in the turner..no biggie..wellllll when I got the 20 eggs I'd bought, she was REALLY good with the extras and sent me 30 eggs and the swap lady sent me 17 eggs total....sooooo my problem..I do have a mini that'll hold the mistake eggs till hatch and I could take out the turner and probably fit all the rest of the eggs in and turn by hand. (but I'm a little worried about laying them with a couple of the air cells)..oooorrr..buy a cheap still air and put some in that...suggestions??? Poor Mike...watched me takin allllll those eggs out of the boxes as his eyes just kept gettin bigger and bigger..LOL He just kept asking "How many chickens do we have?" LOLOLOLOL I reminded him that shipped eggs are Iffy at best and to not worry his purty lil head..it'll all be ok! ;) SO...suggestions??? :)

Now to decide if I want to get the cheap still air or try to figure out how to get them all in with some mobile air cells..

Still have sick chicks. One is pretty weak but started eating this morning when I fed it. Lots of fluffed feathers. Hens with sniffling noses. I saw something on the shelf yesterday for animals including poultry. Its powder and starts with a T. Its for colds and flu. When my new drug comes in that I just ordered, Im going to try the two day treatment and then try everything else. Ive put everything out where they have plenty of room and can be in the sun as much as they want. Nothing is dying but one is getting weaker. Its been sick for almost two weeks so I haven't culled it yet. I have expected it to die any day but some days it seems better. I sure will be glad when this is over. Some days I think, I will just cull every chick that is sick(fluffed feathers). Its just real weird. Some of the ones with fluffed feathers that I think are sick will fly all the way across the yard chasing a bug or coming to the feed. I think Ive about got it under control. Im hearing a lot of people in Arkansas are having troubles with chickens. One of the counties in Arkansas had a quarantine because of an Avian Flu. Coccidiosis and flu like symptoms seems to be everywhere.
