Yellow foam around the mouth and yellow slime means that he had ruptured his yolk sac.  Keep an eye on him; watch for bacterial infection.  Good move with the iodine. Hopefully the little guy with be ok.  :fl
That was my assumption and why I decided to get involved. I figured the longer he was in there struggling the more chance for bacteria and the more he'd become glued to everything as it dried. I was just surprised that he looked so good when I got him out. Will keep an eye out though.

ETA: The yellow foam wasn't coming from his mouth oddly enough, it was coming up from the bottom of the egg :/ All I could think was maybe his little legs were trying their hardest to run so he could spin in the egg (but he couldn't because he was getting glued in) and they were churning up the yolk enough to make bubbles???

Grr... So mad at my puppy right now.
So I'm sitting in a room, putting the new cage together for the guinea pigs, and all of a sudden, I hear screaming:
QUACKKKK
QUUUUUAAAACCCCCKKKK!!
So I ran outside as soon as I heard Daffy, a little Mallard duck.
And my dog was carrying Daffy in her mouth! I immediately ran and made Annabelle let go of her. She seemed okay, but then I looked down at my arm, covered in blood... and lots of it.
That dog bit BOTH of Daffy's wings! So we were sitting there, applying pressure to her wings with some old cloth, with my little sisters all crowded around me petting her.
When the bleeding slowed down, we put her back with Donald, a Mallard drake. Fingers crossed she'll be okay tonight.

So sorry :( My dogs have cost me I think 18 chickens so far. I do my best to prevent it but sometimes they get over on me...

So the last of the eggs set on 9-11 have hatched - another 100% hatch. One of the 9-12 eggs already hatched too and the last 3 of the 9-12 eggs are pipped. One of those is an experimental Marans egg that had been in the fridge for 2 weeks when it was set. Just wanted to see how it went. As of now it is pipped - so far so good.

Aw, my little busted yolk chick is fading. I have been trying to feed him a yolk concoction but he has given up. I am now just holding him in my hand till he dies and singing him Amazing Grace so at least he hears something pretty and feels loved :hit

Checked on Franken-Marans this morning and she pipped through her major vein and looks to have busted her yolk too. Not looking good for her... sigh.

This just isn't your day, is it... :(

At least I have some good news...
I checked in on Daffy this morning, and she's fine! :D She didn't seem bothered by the fact that all of her flight feathers have been ripped out...
