I want to chronicle trying to save my little chick from a case of wry neck.

His story is that he is from my chickens and was hatched here, he is a Lavender Orpington chick and was 3 weeks old last weekend.

I did not notice any issues with the chicks until I got home from work on Monday and found him literally in a ball in the brooder and he was unable to stand or straighten his neck.

Lots of quick research and I immediately got rid of the medicated feed I was feeding as several sites said it can cause chicks to mal-absorb vitamins.

Monday evening he got a capsule of vitamin E as well as some water by a dropper and this morning he got polyvisol. I put all the chicks on vitamin laced water in case any others were deficient.

I wish I had made a video last night but he is better tonight, he can hold up his head for short periods and ate scrambled eggs on his own. I gave him another capsule of vitamin E (cut open and squirted slowly into his mouth). Before bed I will give him more polyvisol.

I plan on posting updates and videos nightly while we try to get him through this condition for anyone who might be interested in his story.

He/She is being called Odd (it will be Odd Thomas if a roo - Dean Koontz fans will get the reference - lol)

How old is your rooster? How long has he had the neck issue? How are you treating it?
My rooster is around 7 months old. I first noticed the symptoms 4 weeks ago. I have been giving him vitamins since he started. He has good days and bad days. Today his head has spent more time upside down than straight. I don't have any of the vitamin E tablets but I have been keeping a strong dose of regular chicken vitamins in his water. It has vitamin E and Selenium in it.
I'd really like to keep him since I had planned on using him as a purebred breeder but some days I don't think that's going to happen.

You need to get some liquid vitamin E capsules and squeeze one into his mouth every day. Odd actually likes it.

I will say though that you should not breed this bird, the condition can be genetic as well and you don't want to pass this one to new birds.
