Dickey vs Sportsman incubator

They look like decent prices for a hand built product. Mr Dickey isn't getting rich.

I do wish that both he, and GQF, qould stop describing their water buckets as an *automatic humidity system*.

It is nothing of the sort, and very misleading.

Still, both the Dickey and the Sportsman look to be fine products.

I just checked my receipts for both the incubator and hatcher, and I do have a shipping charge. Shipping on something this size is quite a bit, so I wouldn't expect it to be free. Mr. Dickey may run specials where shipping is free, or maybe discounted-not sure. Both my bator and hatcher came in 2 boxes-one for the bator or hatcher, and one for the trays, and accessories. If you order the bucket (which they call auto humidity system, I guess), it comes in a separate box. I didn't order it.

I still think his prices are good for a very well-made product.

I have built a few of those bucket waterers..

5 gal or 1 gal plastic bucket = free

fittings and tubing = $3.00

float pan = $4.oo or less..(steal one from the kitchen)

float = $6.oo/ea I bought 4 for $24.oo plus shipping..

float pan for my sportsman I cut the bottom off of a rubbermaid tote.. practically completely fills the bottom of the cabinet.. lots of surface ..

Yep, that's why we didn't order the bucket-we figured it would be easy to add if we need to. So far, I don't need to.

my sportsman went through a gallon every 2 to 3 days.. It sure is nice to not have to open the cabinet to get water inside,,

If anybody wants a list of fittings and some instructions how I made mine, just PM me here..
