Did I just ruin my eggs?

Ok, my very first time incubating eggs, coturnix to be specific and my temp got too high I'm using a little giant still air with turner that was given to me for free as my incubator. I put the eggs in last night about 11pm and all was well. I checked this morning before work and at 6am the temp read 104! I quickly adjusted and opened the lid for a fast cool down. My wife has checked them while I'm at work and it's staying about 99 now. Did I just ruin my eggs or is there any hope of recovery for this batch?

There is still hope. 104 is survivable, especially if it wasn't sustained for too long. Good luck!

There is hope!! Since you have no way to know how long it was that high, there is a good chance things might be ok. Hang in there!

mine has gotten up to 106 before and that was at least for 4-6 hours since im at work and that lasted for about a week before i could stabilized the temp and 10 out of 12 eggs still hatched

Wow, that's such a bit of relief to hear that I may be okay instead of you telling me it's certain death! It was probably not sustained for more than 3-4 hours at that temp so I will cross my fingers. What got me was the door to the closet I have the incubator in. Its a small closet; small enough I have to keep the door open to make adjustments or do anything with the 'bator. Well, a head smack later I realized too late that the temp boosted because I shut the door as intended. I've got it just right now I think as it has maintained about 99.5 today. Humidity is a bit high in the 50's but don't think it will hurt too much. Thanks for replying y'all, I feel much better now!

Hi i am wondering if i ruined my eggs! My incubator was 99.5 last afternoon. Then i checked it again this afternoon and it was 90 f will that ruin them because it was too cold? Help!

Too cool a temperature may delay the hatch a little but it hasn't ruined the eggs. During power outages I've had my temp drop lower than that and the eggs still hatch.

You are the answer to my prayers! I did the water candling and all of them bobbed! Thanks so much i will keep you posted when they hatch in 5 days!

Just don't give up on them if they don't hatch on day 21 (or 28 if they are guineas, turkeys etc.) Our last power outage took my incubator temp down to the 70's before we got the generator hooked up. I still had a decent hatch, (some on day 23) although a few didn't make it.

I thought i would also ask you about spacing, do they need a lot of space? I have them in different baskets, because they have different mommas, They have enough room where they can wiggle but i am afraid they will have to sit on eachothers eggs till they all hatch!
