Hello, I have four ducks. Or I did have. A pair of Indian runners and two female khaki Campbell’s. This morning, one of the Campbell ducks was dead in their paddle pool. Only two of our females are laying, despite them all being about 8 months old, and the duck that died, Dawn, was the one who wasn’t laying. She was fine though, eating, waddling, quacking, foraging and swimming. And she could get out of that water. I’m so upset thinking that she drowned. I didn’t think that a duck could drown in a little pool they can get out of. To be honest, I didn’t think adult ducks drowned! Is this likely to be what happened?

Sorry for your loss :hugs

So is one of your indian runners a male?

She couldve had a type of seizure, or mabye she had "wet feather" and got water logged and too cold to get out... But the most common culprit is the male drowning the female

If your other females were laying its possible she was egg bound or had some other reproductive complication and just happened to be in the water when she expired.
