I wonder if there are trees here that don't grow in other places. We have huge groves of cottonwoods, called breaks, along the rivers and streams. Lilacs grow good here. You see them blooming everywhere in the spring.

Lots of Cottonwood in TX. Looks like snow on the ground when their blossoms start blowing around.
We have tons of Lilac around here; don't know about them being trees, though. More like an out-of-control bush.

When I was 10, someone pulled me down and rolled over my arm with a pair of roller skates, broke my wrist in two places. I had terrible nightmares that it was ice skates and that it sliced my hand off. I didn't say it was a "rational" fear.
