The Bottle Brush really sends them for a loop too (grow up with that stuff stuck in your hair everyday & it becomes way less appealing!) Don't even get me started on palm trees... I keep telling DH that they are just rodent & bug infested weeds, but he loves 'em.

.....Yup, I'd definitely be one of them tourists I ridicule for clogging up the roads in fall here.

Iceplant really is great! Drought resistant, fire retardant, colorful, spreads like crazy, the bee's love it... We live on a slope & had a lot of it up until a couple years ago. You know the drought is bad if even the iceplant dies. We still have a little & some of the dead stuff is growing back after all the spring rain.
