i have a marans pullet that i think got injured by one of the big roosters and she cant get around well and is dehydrated so i tubed her some vitamins and water, she seemed perkier afterward

Next time one of them hits you with that argument, ask them how's they'd like to have rabies running rampant in their area. That's very well what could happen. Foxes are known carriers, and one non-fatal (for a while, anyway) bite to a pet dog is all it would take.

But they are my elders. i shan't question my elders.

The foxes ARE their dogs.
