Did you see the Octagon on sale for $99?

Just found this thread and wanted to say thanks, I'm gonna order me one tomorrow, got 2 genesis hovabators with mille fleur cochin eggs hatching tonight, yippee, I love them but can always use another incubator right LOL! Gonna tell hubby it will be our Christmas present, I know he will love it too. He just loves watching the chicks hatch.

I needed to get a turner for my 2nd Octagon 20 Eco...well, ok, I ordered a MiniAdvance and another EcoGlow Chick Brooder, too! I just couldn't pass up 10% off all that, in addition to saving $30 on the MiniAdvance! I guess I better go tell my DH I've already ordered all my Christmas presents for this year!

I'm a first time incubator. If I were to get the eco one, do I need to get any other supplies? Or should I get the mini advance one? Need some help deciding.

I used my Octagon 20 Eco without a turner with no problems; you just turn the whole incubator (you don't have to open it). I also got a Brinsea Spot Check Thermometer ($19.99), to periodically check the incubator temp:

It's kind of pricey, but I love that it has a probe that you can stick through the incubator airhole. I can also spot check all my other incubators with the same thermometer.

Here's a link to some info about the MiniAdvance:

Whichever you decide, you can't go wrong with a Brinsea!

Thank you so much for this post! I'm a big fan of "things happen for a reason" (at least when I can use it to my advantage) so seeing this post at 5 AM when I was absolutely exhausted with no willpower means I now own an incubator. This is bad. And also really, really good. And the fact that I was leaning towards getting the one that holds only 7 eggs and now I've gotten the bigger one thanks to this post just means I've skipped over the basics of Chicken Math With Incubators 101 and moved right to Incubating 201: YOU NEED TO ALMOST DOUBLE YOUR FLOCK IN 21 DAYS!

Now I just have to have the willpower to not incubate anything until winter is over.

It sounds scary when you get a batch of 20+ in every 21 days. I have a LG and it a pain to turn the egg several times a day.
