Digital Camera's - For Chicken Picture Taking =D

I bought the Kodak Value Charger AA or AAA size
The AA that came with it ate 2000mAh AA 1.2V
They didnt last long at all in the camera. Also they said they came pre-charged but didnt seem to be charged when I put them into my camera, I didnt try them on a different camera or device though, the indicator lights never flipped off, I figured they would if the batterys were charged. The directions didnt state how they would work.

I will look into the rechargeable 2500mAh rechargable batteries.

My MIL sugessted the Lithium batteries, I didnt know you could get a nice pack at that price, she told me I would end up paying more for the batteries then the camera LOL I will check into those also!

Thank you all!

Ohh and PS I got my GPS for my car and a surefire flashlight for xmas yippie! Wow that flashlight bulb gets HOT and it blinds you pretty quick!! LOL
Still playing with the GPS not sure if I will keep this one or get a TomTom, anyone have any experiences with these??

That last pic is of a chick inside of an egg. It's called candling.

TerrrasCritters: All batteries bar the expensive lithium ones will slowly lose charge over time. Any "precharged" rechargables is a joke if they have been sitting on the shelf for a long time. They were probably charged fully at one time, but when you got them, it most likly lost some of it. Maybe Royicus can direct you to a set of 2700mAh's for a good deal as he is the flashlight/battery guy and knows where to look.

I just got a Canon Digital Rebel XT. All I have figured out so far is that when you randomly poke around on the buttons on the back, you turn on the self timer and when you try to take a pic, the camera beeps at you for a while til the shutter snaps. LOL I also have to resize a lot of them. They are too large for Etsy and the upload here. They come out at 3456 x 2304 pixels.

I took this pic from a few inches away with the 18-55 lens.

I have an old HP that DH takes skiing with him.
I ave a Fuji Finepix which is fine, too. I wanted the Digital Rebel to use all my bayonet lenses from my 2 Canon film SLR's, however, they don't make that Rebel anymore. SO now I need to decide of I want to keep my film cameras or sell them to maybe buy a different lens for this camera.

Terrie, that is the camera I use. Excellent choice. You can also choose a lower setting in the menu for decreasing the size of the file (pixels). Go to pic quality & choose small. Your pics will be 1728 by 1152 pixels. However that is shooting at 4 MP instead of 8MP. I use the large file setting & just resize using the included software. Did yours come with ArcSoft Photostudio?

Once you get the hang of it, you will renjoy this camera for many years to come. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Enjoy.

Thanks, LCRT!
I haven't installed anything from the CDs yet. Or even read the manual for that matter. I just know how to make it beep at me!

I have used PhotoImpression byArcSoft and I like it.

I will be taking lots of pics this weekend for sure.

Ok, batteries...

Alkaline batteries, the most common that you see at the store, have relatively low energy density, a poor discharge curve, but they are cheap.

Lithium batteries have the highest energy density, a good discharge curve, but they are expensive.

The compromise here are nickel metal hydride batteries, or NiMH. You can usually find 2500mAh batteries at the store for roughly $13 for 4, or about $30 for 4 and a charger.

The best batteries that I've been able to find for digital camera use are 2700mAh Sanyo batteries, but I've only found them online. I would recommend these for camera use. They can be purchased for around $20 for the batteries and the charger.

Note that "quick" or "one hour" chargers are hard on the cells and will reduce the life of them, with life being charge/discharge cycles. Therefore, I always just get some extra batteries and an "overnight" charger so I always have charged batteries, but I also get the longest life out of them too.

Cameras and chickens my 2 favorite subjects. In your price range I'd say go with the canon A710 IS . My choice for the ultimate chicken camera would be the CanonS3 IS The screen flips out so you can shoot at chicken level without crawling on the ground. It's got image stabilization which helps stops blurred pics from shaky hand and it has a great macro setting. There is a new version of this camera but it's out of your price range. I posted a used one from a very reputable camera seller. If you look through my old post you can see pics I've taken with this camera.

Sewww we went to Sams the other day to look at the lithium batteries yada yada, but I also looked at there cameras and id be darn to find MY camera WAY cheaper then the price paid for it origanally. So of course instead of exchange I returned for my money back at Walmart and purchased the one at Sams AND the 12 pack of Energizer e2 Lithium Batteries. I have not opened them yet, the battery that comes with the camera is a lithium battery too. It did last longer on the other camera then the others I bought and used.

Anyway, do the lithium batteries not have the mAh? becuase I dont see it on the package at all, but did see it on the other packages of batteries that were not lithium.

Should these work good or should I keep looking and see if I can find the 2700mAh Sanyo batteries & charger?

Thanks!
