Ain't' no denying these girls are predators.

Nothing like a big chunk of meat to make 'em turn:




And the race is on!





She goes this way





And that way





And the tug of war starts





Pieces of meat are flying everywhere






And there goes the temporary winner






Fancy footwork for sure!




And the winner is Big Sister! She thunders through the flock....






And makes her escape





She flings her prize about






And swallows her prize so fast that the other hens (and me!) wondered where the morsel went.





You can tell she's proud of herself!





And for dessert she enjoys a nice fresh salad

Yes, they are JGs-hatchery quality so they aren't really all that giant but they have been healthy hens.

Are you ever afraid they are going to choke? My JG can choke down the biggest pieces of food. It's scary to watch. So now I chop up stuff before I put it out. It also gives the other hens a fighting chance of getting in on the action.

How cute! I gave my girls meat before, when I had laying hens and felt a little weird doing it, but now that I only have chickens that don't lay, I think a few slices of meat might be worth fattening them up XD

Are you kidding? Steele doesn't have a chance up against a mob of Jersey Giants. They are like locusts when it comes to food!

You know, there's a game in Afghanistan which is kinda like polo, but involves a dead goat. I think they were inspired to invent this game when someone once threw a bit of meat to some chickens! I've never seen such hysteria, such naked rage in a chicken, as when another chicken has the piece of meat.

Steele had to be moved to the bachelor pen as the girls won't leave his comb alone! Poor guy. Now he has to put up with George who does his fan dance every five minutes.
