Good Morning! I have a girl with a very fluffy butt that sometimes gets pretty poopy and I have to wash it. It's really hard to get all that solid poop off of her without making her skin look irritated even when I soak it. I was reading on here that some people trim the fluff around their vents to keep them clean. I did that yesterday and I guess I got a little carried away and now you can see a bald spot right below her vent. Will this be a problem. Will the feathers grow back?

Sometimes trimming fluff is helpful. It's unlikely to be a problem, but still good to keep an eye out for any developments including more poop build up or flockmates pecking.

The feathers are unlikely to grow back until she molts.. and even then only if she molts out what is left under the skin there.

Thanks for the info. I don't think pecking will be a problem. My little flock is pretty chill. But if it is, what should I do?

They don’t go after spots because of temperament, they just naturally are attracted to and carelessly peck the color red- even if that’s someone’s flesh. If it’s small and hidden by other feathers, they may not notice it. If you see anyone pick at it try to apply Blu Kote to mask the color. Should let the feathers grow back in without being bothered.
