Hi,

Our hen has hiccup like behavior often but she does not make sound while she does that. She looks very tired, she rests more than usual, currently still eating and drinking. Her crop is soft in the morning and hard in the afternoon.

Here is the video of her behavior.

Does anyone know what problem could cause this?

Thanks!

It could be her adjusting her crop if there is something stuck in there, but it also could be something neurological similar to wry neck. I would keep checking her. Her crop should be empty in early morning before she has eaten. It should be full at night. If she has full, puffy crop in the morning with a sour odor from the beak, she may have sour crop. Impacted crop is full and hard, and doesn't empty by morning. If you think it is more neurological, you could put poultry vitamins in her water, and feed a small amount of egg daily for selenium. Here is some info on crop problems:

Thank you eggcessive.

We kind of suspect it's sour crop. She has worms and worms seems to affect rate of digestion which could cause sour crop. Her breath does not smell fermented though, at least not yet.

At the same time we also kind of suspect it's neurological problem. She often closes one of her eyes but we could not see obvious eye issues.
