looks kinda like something may have chewed on them. I know cats like to catch birds and then play with them and pull their feathers out, then leave them. I am so sorry. So last night I went to the coop brooder and I was like great everyone was fine . Then after I gave them their dinner, I saw tufts of feather fluff under the saw dust. I I un covered it and, A DEAD CHICK! I found another one, and I prayed to God that it wasn't another chick. But no I uncover it and, ANOTHER DEAD CHICK! And same happened to the third. I don't know but am I not feeding enough? or is it a disease? if so the should I quarantine the chicks? (I tend to blame my self for any pet deaths...) (so this is pretty hard on me)View attachment 2626332
Can you put some more of the smallest chicks in this brooder? That would save them from being trampled, though make sure not to overcrowd it, as that wouldn’t help your problems at all.
those are the smallest chicks but i could put more....Can you put some more of the smallest chicks in this brooder? That would save them from being trampled, though make sure not to overcrowd it, as that wouldn’t help your problems at all.
Do that.those are the smallest chicks but i could put more....
ok ill put most of the new ones in there...Do that.
As I said, try not to overcrowd it. It won’t do them any good if they just trample each other in the smaller brooder too.ok ill put most of the new ones in there...
yes.As I said, try not to overcrowd it. It won’t do them any good if they just trample each other in the smaller brooder too.
Sleeping in a giant pile can suffocate smaller chicks. They sleep in a big huddle can that be a cause of the trampling?View attachment 2629338also I found a very sick looking pooView attachment 2629342
